Raw Madness!

Hey everyone! I know it’s been a while and I haven’t even given you a raw update yet. This week has been madness with work, three side projects converging into one stressful nightmare and all of the effort it takes to eat a completely raw diet. That results in fewer pics and posts but hopefully I’ll be able to get back into posting more next week (even with jury duty, ugh!!!)

I figured I’d pop in to show what I have been able to get pics of:

First I thought I’d share that I started my apple cider vinegar routine again. 1 tbsp ACV in 8 oz of water chugged down 2-3 times a day. It doesn’t taste great but the effects are immediate. I started yesterday and I barely yawned at all (I usually yawn every 3 minutes), had tons of energy and even fell asleep easier than I have in months. I thought the pic looked cool with Instagram effects too ;)

Made some homemade raw almond butter using sprouted raw almonds from Whole Foods. Making your own nut butter is so easy, I don’t know why I don’t do it more often!

I’ve been enjoying my raw almond butter with some of my giant organic carrots :)

I’ve been enjoying lots of big salads like this one. This is a kale and avocado salad. Basically I just massaged kale with avocado that was mashed with salt, pepper, garlic powder and lemon juice. It was really good but the kale didn’t get as tender as I like. Still tasty though!

Haven’t taken pics of them but I’ve been drinking lots of green juices. I’m hoping to post a fun meal tomorrow too! I have off but I have to do a baby shoot but I should have time to get some pics of the yumminess and post :)

That’s all for today. Hopefully going to get to relax tonight after a long work week. Hope you all have a great night!

  1. Wow so stressful! Not very conducive to eating raw! But you’re doing brilliantly as I knew you would :)

So cool about the ACV giving you boosts of energy. I need to try that because lately I am always tired no matter how much I sleep!

    Have a lovely evening Sarah!

    • Yes it’s stressful but it will pass as it always does :) Thanks!

I know, I held off on it for so long because of the taste but I’m glad I started again because it has helped tremendously!

      Thanks, you too!

  2. I really should try the ACV beverage – maybe during spring break so my system can adjust to it. I love the Instagram version! Raw almond butter sounds amazing! Do you let the salad wilt before eating? I usually have to let it sit about 25 minutes, and it is still chewy, but I like it as such. The avocado mixture sounds perfect!

I hope you have a relaxing weekend the next two days, it sounds like there has been a lot happening!

    • It’s not tasty but it works really really well! You can probably add a little agave or stevia or juice to make it taste better. I’m getting used to it and I chug mine so it goes down quick. Thanks, I like the way it came out too! I did let the salad wilt for a while but I’m also weird about my kale. It was definitely edible but not as tender as the caesar salad gets. The avocado was delicious!

      Thanks, definitely trying to relax!

  3. This all looks really yummy! Makes me want to try raw.
I should try that apple cider vinegar thing. I tried drinking it like that once (I have a problem with thrush), but gave up after a day.

  4. Glad to hear you are feeling more lively.
I promise you will get used to the vinegar. Sometimes I even crave it when I am looking for something other than water.

And for a fun fact: Recently I over heard someone saying that if you massage kale it gives it a totally new texture. Haven’t tried it yet but let me know if you do!

    Happy trail(bar)s.

    • Hi Amanda! Thanks, I’m definitely feeling a lot better. I’ve been getting used to it for sure, it gets a little easier every time.

I do massage my kale with the dressing for a few minutes and it helps break the kale down and make it more tender. For some reason it didn’t get that tender this time but it was still tasty :)

      Lol you too!

  5. I’m glad it’s been going well even though you’ve been really busy :) That’s really interesting about the Apple Cider Vinegar, I’ll read some more into that. The nut butter looks good too, you’re right it easy to make, I’ll have to have a go at that too! Have a great week :)

    • Thanks Lana! Definitely check out the apple cider vinegar, it’s really interesting! It was so easy to make and tastes amazing when it’s fresh made :) Thanks, you too!

  6. Oh man, jury duty sucks. Bring some snacks!!
The shot of the water and ACV is really cool. Shimmery and shining and kinda what I’d expect my vision to be like after a couple days on a raw cleanse, ha.
Too bad about the kale salad not being super tender. Are you staying away from oils? A lttle bit of olive oil would probably help.
I like making nut butter too but it is so noisy!

    • I know, I’m not looking forward to it! I’m anticipating I’ll have to go in Wednesday but we’ll see.

Thanks! I thought it came out pretty cool in the morning light :) Nope I’m good with oil so I’ll definitely try the olive oil!

It is noisy but so worth it :)

  7. I think jury duty is pretty interesting, even though I’ve never been picked. Anyway, have you considered that you are yawning a lot and feeling unenergized cuz you are bored with your life? Do you feel better when you go on vacation? Perhaps it’s time for a change of venue?

    • Really? I heard it’s just a bunch of waiting in a room. It sounds boring but I guess we’ll see. I am sure that is definitely part of the reason. My job for the most part isn’t riveting at all so I’m sure it adds to the fatigue and boredom. A vacation would definitely be nice!

  8. Wow, that’s a lot going on. When I’m stressed out, that’s when it’s the hardest for me to stick to my meal plan, but you seem to be doing great. That almond butter looks yummy.
