Fun Friday! The Style Edition!

Happy Friday friends! I hope the week has treated you well :) My week is not over yet, I have a wedding to work tomorrow but I am so glad that today was a short day at work! I have time to do some cooking/dehydrating and now I will have some yummy, nutritious snacks to bring with me tomorrow and to share with all of you! I’ll try to post it tomorrow if I have time before work.

And now on to Fun Friday! Today’s post is going to be dedicated to sharing my personal style with you. I’ve found some photos of styles that I really love and I think represent me. Granted I don’t own any of these outfits or many clothes at all, but if you recall #27 from my Bucket List, one day I will buy myself a new wardrobe. And I assure you these looks will all be represented there :)

The photos of the first 7 outfits are all from one of my friends’ Pinterest page. Apparently we have very similar styles :) Sorry the photos are so small, they are low res files so they are super blurry if I enlarge them.

I love the simplicity of this and I LOVE these jeans. I’m a big fan of the layered look, as you’ll tell from most of these outfits. I don’t have pierced ears but the rest of the accessories are adorable!

Love purple and gray together! I’d leave the hat but love everything else. You’ll also notice a trend that I love flats! I rarely ever wear heels to be honest. I know they look nice and all that and I do enjoy heels once in a while, but on a daily basis I prefer flats.

Another cute layered look! Love these jeans too. I’d pass on the hearts but I love everything else.

This outfit is perfect. How cute is that dress?! I want it!

This is my absolute favorite outfit and 100% indicative of how I dress now. The jeans are the perfect length, I layer v-necks over tanks almost every day, the bag is ADORABLE, wedges are the only heels I’ll wear on a semi regular basis and the accessories are so cute. By far my favorite outfit and also the one closest to how I dress.

Again, this is close to how I dress. Another simple, layered look with flats.

Love the jeans and apparently I need to investigate Tom’s shoes because I’m loving all of the ones I see with these outfits! Gotta love that there is a vegan section on the website!
During the summer you’ll see me mostly in dresses and skirts. I find them to be the most comfortable and I LOVE maxi dresses! This is when I’m forced to wear the wedge shoes ;) I love the far right one in the above photo but I would never feel comfortable rocking that much cleavage.
The last time I was in Target I saw that they were carrying Converse brand clothing! How cute is this dress?!
Speaking on Converse, I’m a big fan of the Classic Chuck Taylor’s as well as this super cute double tongue Chuck Taylor!
I’ve been trying not to be such a lazy ass about doing my nails and I love this look! White nail polish with colored glitter over it. I always go dark but white would be so cute for the summer! LOVE.
One pair of heels that I do own and love are my sequined skull heels. I’ve worn them once and they hurt like crazy but I’m waiting for an occasion to wear them again!
So that is just a snippet of my personal style and what my dream wardrobe looks like :)
I would like to end this Fun Friday post with a huge thank you to Caralyn for nominating me for…
the One Lovely Blog Award! Thank you so much Caralyn, you are so sweet!
The rules are fairly simple – share a few things about yourself your readers don’t already know, and pass the award on to some of your favorite bloggers.

Hmmm ok facts that no one knows… I feel like I always share random info :)
1. I went to Hebrew School 3 days a week for 8 years when I was younger. I can still read Hebrew but don’t understand it. I never got Bat Mitzvah’d.
2. I want to road trip the California coast for my 30th birthday in 2013.
3. I am motivated by competition. I want to be better than the boys.
4. I still want to start a vegan business. Since my own tastes and eating habits have changed, so has my idea for what kind of business I’d like to have. While I’d still like to do some baking (probably more on a special order basis) I’d love to focus on mostly gluten free, (some) raw, snacks and treats. In my ideal world I’d be selling at Farmer’s Markets. I’d have the cutest presentations for my treats ;)
And my nominees:
Gabby from The Veggie Nook
Sage from Sweet and Sage
Molly from Vegan Flower
And for the record, I think all of the blogs that I follow and comment on are lovely and amazing and you are all wonderful people! Nominating people is so hard! I try to share the love with all of the blogs I read.
Hope you all enjoyed this peek into my personal style :)  Have a great Friday and if I can get on tomorrow before the wedding I will. I have to leave my house at 11:30 AM though and it’ll be tight between the gym and the start time so I may be back on Sunday! If that is the case I hope you all have a lovely Saturday as well!

Fun Friday! Stuff I’m Into!

Hey everyone! I hope that you’ve had a great week! I wish I could say that my week is over but sadly I’ll be working through Sunday. At least I only have to go in for a few hours tomorrow.

I wasn’t sure if I should skip fun Friday and keep my cleanse posts going but I kind of feel like the food is pretty much the same. Lots of raw today but it was a smoothie, a mango, a hummus plate and dinner will be a big ol’ salad. See, nothing new.

So, let’s begin Fun Friday!

You didn’t think I’d actually post this fun Friday without mentioning the book though, did you? How could I, it has consumed my week! In the best possible way though. I figured I’d do a first week cleanse wrap up. Overall, I feel really good right now. I hit a few bumps in the road as I documented earlier in the week, especially Day 3. Now that I’ve overcome the hardest part of the detox I have more energy, my appetite seems to have leveled off (I have the tendency of either having zero appetite or being a ravenous beast… now I feel like I have a normal person appetite), my skin is glowing and I’ve dropped a few pounds. I feel a bit more relaxed after my morning meditations as well. Overall, I feel much better on the cleanse this time around. I have a feeling that this will turn into a lifestyle instead of a cleanse. Stay tuned for another week!
As I’ve mentioned, I was in desperate need of a proper pair of running shoes, especially since I’m starting my training for Tough Mudder. I have to be careful with my spending so I was planning on saving up from the weddings I work to buy a good pair. I got an e-mail advertising a 20% Memorial Day online sale from Sports Authority and figured I’d check it out and see if I could find anything. I found these and loved them and the price so I ordered them! I’ve heard great things about New Balance for running so I can’t wait to try them out. The list price was $74.99 and the total price I paid after taxes (I got free shipping too!) was $50. Not bad! Hopefully they are as good as I hear they are :) I had saved up already for a dehydrator (I was going to do a dehydrator then the sneakers) but I just switched up the order a little bit ;)
And on the same note, I’m going to start up my running today! I’m heading over to the gym in a little bit to get some interval running in. Wish me luck!

I have never actually watched the music video for this song but every time it comes on when I’m in the car I find myself bopping around and doing a little car dance. It’s Calvin Harris ft. Ne-Yo and it’s called “Let’s Go.” I have a feeling it will find it’s way onto my cooking/baking dance party playlist pretty soon.
I found this workout and have made it a goal. It doesn’t seem that hard but it is. My goal is to make it through without dying.
Finally, I’m so honored that Gabby over at Veggie Nook nominated me for…
the Food Stories Award for Excellence in Storytelling!

Random Fact: My initials are SAS so my family and our family friends call me “Sassy” or “Sas” as a nickname. They are even teaching my niece to call me “Aunt Sassy.” I think it fits :)
It is so hard to only choose 5 people because I love all of my readers and their blogs! I’m going to try and nominate people I haven’t nominated before to be fair!
1. Caralyn from GlutenFreeHappyTummy! Such an inspiring story, you are a warrior girl!
2. Allysia from The Real Meal! Beautiful posts with beautiful food :)
3. Ashlae from Oh, ladycakes! You are a rock star! I LOVE your recipes and your stories always make me smile!

That’s all for me today. I am going to get ready for the gym then after I get back I’m going to enjoy a quiet evening watching The Ultimate Fighter Live and the last installment of UFC Primetime. Those Heavyweights are no joke!
Have a great night everyone!

Vegan MoFo Day 19: WTF Wednesday and an Award!

First I would like to start off by thanking Michelle of lovinlivinvegan and Brittany of Brittany’s Veg Kitchen for nominating me for the Liebster Blog Award. The award is meant to help boost support for blogs with under 200 followers and I really appreciate the support ladies!  Like most others I didn’t know what Liebster meant but have come to found out that it is German for “beloved” or “dearest” but can also mean favorite. Thank you so much ladies!
1. Show you thanks by linking to the person who nominated you.
2. Link to 5 of your top picks and leave a comment on their blog to let them know.
3. Post the award on your blog.
4. Enjoy the love and support of some wonderful people on the interweb!
My Nominees :)
(I have so many favs so I’m just choosing 6 [I'm a renegade I know], please don’t be offended if I don’t choose yours, I love all the blogs!)

OK, so now let’s check out some meals for today. It is so gross and rainy outside I wish I could just stay home and drink coffee and watch stupid movies. Instead I’ll work until 9 so I was up early and prepping meals to bring with me. I’m listening to the rain pelt down as I type. Yuck.
For my first meal I wanted to finish up the other half of the avocado I started yesterday before it got brown and gross so I split it up between 2 slices of gf toast. Noms.
My second “meal” is going to be some coffee and a banana that I pick up by work.

For my third meal I decided to make some pasta. 1/3 cup (dry) brown rice pasta with steamed broccoli and zucchini and sauce topped with a little sprinkle of nooch.

Dinner is a simple meal of roasted chickpeas, roasted brussels sprouts and a big ol’ carrot. Mmm.
Hope you have a great Wednesday!! P.S. that awesomely affordable and delicious deli by my job…sells 2 oz packets of chia seeds! Why didn’t I see this before spending $12 on a bag of chia seeds I’ll probably never get through! Eek!

Vegan MoFo Day 3: Pumpkin Pie for Breakfast and an Award!

So I had a pretty rough work weekend. It has taken a little bit of a toll on my mood but I’m pretty excited to have a training session tonight so I can get a little aggression out. I was also really happy to see the great response to my last post about the super cute food related gifts I’ve found! :) That definitely helped to lift my spirits.
Something else that helped lift my spirits was my amazing breakfast of Pumpkin Pie! OK not really pumpkin pie ;) But I made a super healthy breakfast that mimicked pumpkin pie and it was really delicious and comforting so I thought it was the perfect first recipe post of MoFo! Check it!
Pumpkin Chia Pudding Pie!
1/4 cup pumpkin puree
1/2 cup favorite plant milk (I used unsweetened vanilla almond breeze)
1 tbsp chia seeds
generous sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp maple syrup
1 tsp of vanilla extract
Sweetener to taste (I added a little bit of stevia)
1/4 cup favorite granola
Combine all ingredients except granola in a bowl (make sure there is a little room for the seeds to expand). Let the mixture sit at least one hour so the seeds soak up the liquid.  I left mine overnight. When you are ready to eat, sprinkle granola over top of the pudding. There’s your pie crust!
*I made this recipe without the stevia but had to add it because it wasn’t quite sweet enough for me. You can always up the maple syrup if you prefer. I also used 3/4 cup liquid but found it wasn’t thick enough so I would recommend 1/2 cup*

As if this delicious treat wasn’t enough to cheer me up, the lovely Sage of Sweet and Sage nominated me for this super fun award!
Thanks Sage! Check out her blog, it is a lovely space that is bursting with positivity, cuteness and fun! :)
Tell Me About Yourself Award rules
1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you.
2. Write 7 random things about yourself.

1. I have 3 tattoos and can’t wait to get more! I have one big piece (cherry blossoms in wind across my upper back) and 2 small ones (skull and crossbones on the inside of my foot and hibiscus flower on the back of my ankle).
Here I am getting my back piece done!
2. I have a weird obsession with plaid. I love it!
3. I am very low maintenance and I’m not super girly. I do, however, have my moments…like when I got these shoes…
4. I went to graduate school in Seattle. I have an MA in Communication.
5. I spent 3 weeks backpacking after I graduated college. I went to London, Dublin, Edinburgh, Brussels and Paris. It was an amazing experience.
6. I didn’t get my driver’s license until I was 25. I was terrified of driving!
